The making of a spectacular two-storey atrium

At 15m long, 7m wide and 6m high, our team relished the challenge of building this spectacular two-storey atrium for our private client in central London last year. Here, we share behind the scenes footage taken by our design and construction specialist Dan Grimshaw, showing the first phase structural work through to the first fix, and final fit out.

Flooded with natural light, the calm, open plan living space features bespoke joinery and specialist metal finishes, including verdigris on the copper in the kitchen, which took almost a year to develop with Ledbury Studio and Temper Studio.

The atrium is the centrepiece of this 850m2 residence that Beam transformed as part of an extensive rebuild project, in collaboration with project architects Reginald Verspreeùwen (RV Architects) and interior designer, Geraldine Dohogne.

The project engineer was Michael Barclay Projects Ltd - MBP, with AV by Eqquipd and indoor climate by Calibre Climate.

We’ll be sharing further images of this completed project over the coming months so watch this space!
